Kuwait commends the role of humanitarian organizations and the significant contributions made by humanitarian workers
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s appreciation for the vital role played by humanitarian organizations and the significant contributions made by humanitarian workers, as well as their efforts to deliver aid to those in need, save lives, and alleviate the suffering of victims of conflicts and disasters across the globe, amid growing humanitarian needs and escalating challenges facing humanitarian action.
In a statement marking World Humanitarian Day, observed today on Wednesday, the Ministry paid solemn tribute to the sacrifices of humanitarian workers, emphasizing the necessity of strengthening their protection, ensuring their security and safety, and enabling them to carry out their humanitarian duties safely. It also stressed the importance of guaranteeing the safe, rapid, and unimpeded delivery of humanitarian assistance to all those in need, as well as the importance of respecting the provisions of international humanitarian law and international human rights law.
In this context, the Ministry reiterated Kuwait’s welcome of the Human Rights Council’s adoption, by consensus, at its sixty-second session, of the resolution titled “The impact of obstructing and impeding the delivery of humanitarian assistance and of attacks on the safety of humanitarian personnel on the enjoyment of human rights in armed conflict.” Initiated by the State of Kuwait, the resolution represents an important step toward enhancing international efforts to protect humanitarian workers, facilitate the delivery of aid to beneficiaries, and strengthen respect for relevant international obligations.
On this occasion, the Ministry affirmed that the State of Kuwait continues its steadfast approach of extending assistance to those in need and enhancing cooperation with the United Nations and humanitarian organizations, driven by its firm commitment to humanitarian action and its belief in the importance of international solidarity and cooperation in addressing crises, reflecting its role as an active partner in supporting humanitarian efforts at both the regional and international levels.
