Postponement of the opening of bids for the smart water meters tender to September 8
The Central Tenders Board has postponed the deadline for submitting bids for the tender to supply, install, operate, and maintain smart water meters for the Ministry of Electricity and Water to Tuesday, September 8, instead of yesterday’s Tuesday.
The Board is scheduled to open the bids on the aforementioned date and refer them to the Ministry, as the competent authority, for review and preparation of a technical recommendation to award the contract to the bid that complies with specifications and technical requirements. The matter will then be referred to the Court of Audit for review, audit, and approval, provided there are no comments requiring the Ministry’s response.
Through this tender, the Ministry aims to supply 300,000 smart water meters to replace the existing mechanical meters in most residential sectors. This initiative aligns with the Ministry’s efforts to achieve full digital transformation in service delivery to customers, keeping pace with the latest technologies in this field. The meters to be supplied represent a qualitative leap in water consumption measurement and billing across all residential sectors, featuring modern technological capabilities for highly accurate measurement and calculation of consumption.
