Court of Appeal resolves 5,030 cases in June with an 84.1% completion rate
1% for Criminal Cases... and 83.5% for Non-Criminal Cases
"Ahmadi" Leads in Completion with 116.7%... and "Capital" Accounts for 70.6% of New Cases
Statistics issued by the Ministry of Justice revealed that the Court of Appeal disposed of 5,030 criminal and non-criminal cases during June 2026, out of a total of 5,983 pending cases, achieving a completion rate of 84.1%, while the number of new cases referred to the court reached 3,724.
The statistics showed that the Capital Court led in new cases with 2,631 cases, accounting for 70.6% of the total, followed by Farwaniya with 20.8%, then Ahmadi and Hawalli with 3.8% and 3.1% respectively, while Al Jahra accounted for 0.9% and Capital Markets for 0.7%. Regarding pending cases, the Capital Court accounted for 4,359 cases at 72.9%, followed by Farwaniya with 18.2%, then Hawalli with 4.2% and Ahmadi with 3.3%, Capital Markets with 0.8%, and Al Jahra with 0.6%.
As for disposed cases, the Capital Court came first with 3,419 cases, representing 68% of the total, followed by Farwaniya at 22.8%, then Ahmadi at 4.6% and Hawalli at 3.1%, Capital Markets at 0.9%, and Al Jahra at 0.6%.
"Ahmadi" Leads Completion Rates
The Ahmadi Court recorded the highest completion rate during the month at 116.7%, followed by Farwaniya at 105%, then Capital Markets at 92% and Al Jahra at 88.2%, and the Capital Court at 78.4%, while Hawalli recorded the lowest rate at 62.9%. The statistics indicated that the number of new non-criminal cases reached 3,073, compared to 5,094 pending cases and 4,256 disposed cases, with an overall completion rate of 83.5%.
Commercial cases led the types of non-criminal cases, accounting for 25.6% of new cases, 33.4% of pending cases, and 26.7% of disposed cases, while administrative and Capital Markets cases recorded the lowest numbers, at rates of 0.3% of new cases, 0.2% of pending cases, and 0.1% of disposed cases.
774 Criminal Cases Disposed
In the criminal sector, the number of new cases reached 651, and pending cases reached 889, while the court disposed of 774 cases, achieving a completion rate of 87.1%.
Capital Court felonies led new criminal cases with 430 cases, representing 66.1%, followed by misdemeanor classification cases at 29%, then misdemeanors and municipal violations at 4.9%, while Capital Markets felonies recorded no new cases. The number of pending Capital Court felony cases reached 453 at 51%, followed by misdemeanor classification cases at 42.4%, then misdemeanors and municipal violations at 6.5%, and Capital Markets felonies at 0.1%.
In disposed criminal cases, Capital Court felonies led with 486 cases at 62.8%, followed by misdemeanor classification cases at 24.9%, then misdemeanors and municipal violations at 11.9%, and Capital Markets felonies at 0.4%.
Rates Exceeding 100%
The statistics showed that completion rates exceeding 100% were recorded in several courts and case types, reaching 116.7% in the Ahmadi Court and 105% in Farwaniya. In criminal cases, Capital Markets felonies recorded 300%, misdemeanors and municipal violations 158.6%, and Capital Court felonies 107.3%, while the completion rate in misdemeanor classification cases reached 51.2%.
