Trump: I am not seeking to extend the memorandum of understanding with Iran
- Iran will never possess a nuclear weapon, and its development will take a long time following U.S. strikes
- The Strait of Hormuz is open and we control it through a naval blockade... I like the idea of declaring it a U.S. territory
U.S. President Donald Trump affirmed that Iran will never possess a nuclear weapon, stressing that preventing it from acquiring one is the primary reason for the U.S. presence in the region.
Trump said that Iran wants to reach an agreement, but it is not pursuing the deal he deems necessary, while also confirming that he is not seeking to extend the memorandum of understanding with Iran.
He added that developing a nuclear weapon would take a long time for Iran following the strikes carried out by the United States last summer on its nuclear facilities.
Trump pointed out that the United States controls the Strait of Hormuz through a naval blockade, expressing his admiration for the idea of declaring it a U.S. territory.
He added that the strait is open, with millions of barrels of oil transported through it weekly, as oil prices continue to decline.
Trump described Iran as being in “a big mess” and in a state of chaos, stating that its army has been completely defeated.
