'Al-Tamyeez' supports sentencing a Kuwaiti national to three years in prison for joining 'ISIS'

The Court of Cassation, presided over by Senior Judge Sultan Al-Bursali, rejected an appeal by a Kuwaiti national and upheld a three-year prison sentence against him, following accusations that he had joined the terrorist organization “Daesh.”

Previously, the Court of Criminal Cases had sentenced the accused to five years in prison, but the Court of Appeal reduced the penalty to three years. The accused then appealed the ruling to the Court of Cassation, which ultimately dismissed the appeal and upheld the lower court’s decision.

The Public Prosecution charged the accused with participating in a terrorist group known as the “Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (Daesh),” which aims to spread principles intended to undermine the fundamental systems of the country through illegal means, with full knowledge of the group’s objectives, as detailed in the investigation records.
