Indian Embassy Celebrates 80th Anniversary of Independence
Ambassador Tripati: Our relations with Kuwait are historical and firmly established, both officially and among the people
The Indian Embassy in Kuwait celebrated the 80th anniversary of India’s independence yesterday morning, Saturday, with the participation of more than 2,000 members of the Indian community, alongside a number of distinguished guests and friends of India in Kuwait. Ambassador Paramita Tripati opened the ceremony by laying wreaths on the “Shilavalkam” memorial plaque dedicated to honoring India’s freedom fighters, and on the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, the “Father of the Nation,” before the attendees collectively recited “Vande Mataram,” commemorating the 150th anniversary of its composition.

Tripati hoisted the Indian national flag to the tune of the national anthem, in an atmosphere that reflected feelings of pride and admiration for India’s historic journey.
The ambassador read the address delivered by the President of India to the nation on the eve of the 80th anniversary of independence, which highlighted the country’s key achievements, future aspirations, and its path toward comprehensive development and progress, within the framework of the “Viksit Bharat 2047” vision.
She emphasized the deep, historical, and enduring ties between India and Kuwait, built on mutual respect, goodwill, and strong people-to-people connections, while praising the valuable contributions of the Indian community in Kuwait and their role in strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
As part of the global events accompanying the 80th anniversary of independence, the Embassy in Kuwait, along with Indian missions worldwide, participated in the global “Surya Path Tiranga” march, which celebrates the journey of India’s tricolor flag, “Tiranga,” around the world as a symbol of national pride, unity, and shared identity.
The embassy encouraged members of the community and guests to participate in the “Selfie with Tiranga” and “Every Home with Tiranga” initiatives, setting up designated spots within the event venue where attendees could take photos with the Indian flag. The occasion was preceded by the launch of a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing community participation, which received widespread engagement from the Indian community in Kuwait.
Ambassador Tripati honored the winners, while a selection of entries was displayed at the embassy premises, reflecting the creativity, talents, and patriotic spirit of the participants.
