Kuwait’s Ambassador to India, Meshal Al-Shammari, affirmed today, Saturday, the strength and depth of Kuwaiti-Indian relations during his participation in the annual celebrations held at the Presidential Palace in New Delhi, marking the 80th anniversary of India’s independence.
In a statement, the Kuwaiti Embassy in New Delhi said that Ambassador Al-Shammari attended the Independence Day ceremonies and festivities, following an invitation extended to him by the President of India. The event was attended by senior Indian government officials, ambassadors, heads of diplomatic missions in New Delhi, as well as a select group of businessmen and activists in the cultural and social fields.
Ambassador Al-Shammari conveyed his warmest congratulations and best wishes to the leadership and friendly people of the Republic of India, praising the Indian people’s journey toward freedom, progress, prosperity, and pluralism, which have characterized India over the decades.
Seizing this occasion, Al-Shammari underscored the strength of the deep-rooted historical relations between the State of Kuwait and the Republic of India, whose roots trace back to long periods of commercial, cultural, and human exchanges, before diplomatic relations were established in their current form in the early 1960s. The bright historical trajectory of bilateral relations between Kuwait and India has continued to flourish in political, economic, investment, and mutual benefit domains.
The Ambassador appreciated the positive role played by the Indian community residing in Kuwait, which serves as a living bridge of communication between the two friendly peoples.
He noted that this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two friendly countries, reaffirming Kuwait’s commitment to strengthening existing cooperation through the Kuwaiti-Indian strategic partnership encouraged by the leaderships of both nations. He emphasized the importance of deepening this partnership, fostering its prosperity, and expanding its horizons within the framework of mutual respect, thereby serving the shared interests of both countries and their friendly peoples.
