'Private Universities': Admission of 7,989 Students in the Internal Scholarships Plan for the 2026-2027 Academic Year

Al-Ali: Developing scholarship pathways to align with future specializations and labor market needs

The General Secretariat of the Council of Private Universities announced the names of students admitted to the internal scholarship plan for bachelor’s and diploma programs for the 2026/2027 academic year, totaling 7,989 male and female students who hold a high school certificate or its equivalent.

The Secretary-General of the Council of Private Universities, Dr. Jassem Al-Ali, congratulated the admitted students, wishing them success and achievement in their university journey. He emphasized that admissions were conducted in accordance with approved regulations and standards, within the framework of a strategy aimed at developing the internal scholarship policy and enhancing its effectiveness to keep pace with transformations in the higher education system and meet the country’s current and future needs.

Al-Ali clarified that the current year’s plan saw a review of specializations and allocated quotas, with an expansion in fields of growing importance, particularly technological and digital specializations and programs linked to priority sectors. This was accompanied by a reduction in admissions for certain programs where indicators point to declining job prospects, paving the way for considering the suspension of admissions in these programs if such trends persist in the coming period.

He noted that the distribution of seats was based on maximizing the utilization of the available capacity of private universities and colleges, thereby contributing to absorbing high school graduates and expanding academic options for students, while adhering to admission and academic quality standards.

He added that this strategy also aims to enhance the quality of expenditure on scholarships by directing resources toward programs and specializations with the highest educational and developmental value, thereby contributing to the preparation of qualified national cadres capable of meeting the needs of both the public and private sectors.

Al-Ali stated that the Council will continue to periodically review the map of specializations and admission numbers, based on data and indicators and in coordination with relevant authorities, to ensure the plan’s flexibility and its ability to keep pace with changes and reduce overcrowding in fields with declining job opportunities.

He urged admitted students to visit their assigned universities and colleges according to the specified timelines to complete registration procedures and submit the original high school certificate.

He also encouraged them to take advantage of available educational opportunities and to continue their university journey with seriousness and ambition, contributing to the development of their capabilities and preparing them to participate effectively in serving Kuwait and its developmental progress.
