Kuwait condemns the reprehensible Iranian attack on two Emirati tankers and calls for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz

“Foreign Ministry”: Targeting commercial ships threatens navigation security and energy supplies

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Kuwait’s strong condemnation and outrage over the culpable Iranian attack on two tankers belonging to the UAE’s ADNOC company as they transited the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing that targeting commercial vessels and international sea lanes constitutes a violation of international law and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, and jeopardizes maritime navigation security, the stability of energy supplies, and international trade.

The Ministry stressed in a statement issued today on Friday the necessity to halt all actions that could escalate tensions in the region, respect freedom of navigation and safe passage through international waterways, and fully and unconditionally reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
