UAE condemns Iranian attack on ADNOC tankers: a blatant violation of a UN Security Council resolution and a threat to global energy security

- The imperative to halt attacks and fully and unconditionally reopen the Strait of Hormuz

- Using the strait as a tool for pressure or economic extortion constitutes “piracy” by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard

The United Arab Emirates has condemned and strongly denounced the Iranian attack targeting two ADNOC tankers while they were transiting the Strait of Hormuz, with no injuries reported.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the attack constitutes a blatant violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, which underscores freedom of navigation and rejects targeting commercial vessels or disrupting international maritime routes.

The Ministry stressed that targeting commercial shipping and using the Strait of Hormuz as a means of pressure or economic extortion amounts to piracy by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, posing a direct threat to regional stability, its peoples, and global energy security.
