Yemen: Government forces destroy three Houthi rigged boats in the Red Sea

The Yemeni Navy announced on Thursday the destruction of three explosive-laden boats belonging to Houthi militias, which were loaded with explosives and equipped to carry out hostile operations in territorial waters, during clashes in the Red Sea.

The state-run Yemeni News Agency (Saba) quoted a Navy source as saying that one of the targeted boats was carrying equipment intended for launching drones, and was destroyed by a missile fired by the Navy, killing five militia members on board in open sea.

The source added that the Navy destroyed two other boats after detecting them en route to the site of the targeted boat in an attempt to rescue the personnel on board, noting that striking one of them resulted in casualties among those on board.

He clarified that the two boats were rigged with explosives and laden with ordnance, with one being used to manage the militia’s drone operations, and stated that all three boats were equipped to conduct hostile operations in the Red Sea.

He pointed out that the Navy and Coast Guard succeeded in thwarting the operation and destroying the boats before they could carry out their missions.
