'Traffic': 29,000 violations and 341 vehicles impounded in two weeks

- 52 wanted individuals and 63 residency violations apprehended; 9 minors referred to the Public Prosecution

The Traffic and Operations Sector, represented by the General Directorate of Traffic, continued to implement traffic and security campaigns across various governorates of the country from August 3 to 9, 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance road safety, raise the level of discipline on roads, apprehend violators, and enforce the law on everyone.

The Directorate stated in a statement that the campaigns resulted in issuing 29,060 traffic violations, detaining 21 individuals in traffic pre-trial detention, and referring 9 minors to the Juvenile Prosecution to complete legal procedures against them, along with impounding 341 vehicles and 4 motorcycles in the impound lot for committing serious traffic violations.

It added that 2,249 traffic reports received by the Operations Department were handled, including patrols following up on 859 traffic accidents and 141 collision accidents resulting in injuries. Legal procedures were taken and referred to the concerned police stations, while efforts were made to maintain the smooth flow of traffic.

On the security front, one person suspected of possessing narcotics was apprehended, along with five individuals in abnormal conditions, and they were referred to the General Directorate for Combating Narcotics. Additionally, 63 individuals were apprehended for expired residency, and four individuals were caught without official identification. Furthermore, 52 wanted individuals and 20 wanted vehicles were apprehended, and the individuals and vehicles were transferred to the competent authorities to take legal action against them.

The General Directorate of Traffic emphasized the continuation of field campaigns across various governorates of the country.
