Kuwait condemns Colombia's recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Syrian Golan

- It affirmed its rejection of any steps to entrench the occupation and its support for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s condemnation and denunciation of the Colombian government’s recognition of the sovereignty of the Israeli occupation authorities over the occupied Syrian Golan, emphasizing Kuwait’s rejection of this step, which contravenes international law and resolutions of international legitimacy, particularly United Nations Security Council Resolution 497 of 1981, which deemed the imposition of the occupation’s laws and administration on the occupied Syrian Golan null and void and without any legal effect.

In a statement, the Ministry reiterated the State of Kuwait’s firm position that the Syrian Golan is occupied Arab Syrian land, and its rejection of any decisions aimed at entrenching or legitimizing the occupation, stressing the principle that the acquisition of territory by force is inadmissible, in accordance with the UN Charter and the principles of international law.

The Ministry affirmed Kuwait’s support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity of the sister Arab Republic of Syria, renewing its call on the international community, particularly the Security Council, to fulfill its responsibilities in ensuring respect for international law and the UN Charter, and compelling the Israeli occupation forces to withdraw from all occupied Arab territories.
