Mohamed Salah Ordered to Appear Before an Egyptian Court as His Turkish League Career Begins

The start of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah’s tenure with Trabzonspor in the Turkish league coincides with a judicial obligation in Egypt, after a court in New Cairo ordered him to appear in person next September to take a “decisive oath” in a dispute over legal fees claimed by a lawyer who handled matters on his behalf in previous years.

The Civil Division of the New Cairo Primary Court scheduled Salah’s personal appearance for September 6, 2026, in Case No. 7826 of 2025, Civil General, filed by lawyer Amr Faraj Allah Morsi Abdel Tawab.

The lawsuit concerns the lawyer’s claim for financial dues, which he says are compensation for legal, administrative, advisory, and case-related work he completed for the player.

The court ordered Salah to take the “decisive oath” regarding his denial that the lawyer performed the tasks outlined in the complaint, as well as his assertion that no amounts or fees were owed to him for that work.

If Salah fails to appear to take the oath or refuses without legal justification, he may be deemed to have “renounced the oath,” with legal consequences as stipulated by the case provisions. The court postponed ruling on costs and legal fees until the dispute is finally resolved.

The case stems from a lawsuit filed by the lawyer in September 2025, based on documents submitted to the court, including a general power of attorney issued in 2012, which he claims authorized Salah to take legal actions and perform legal acts related to the player.

The power of attorney remained valid until August 2025, when the lawyer was notified of the termination of his representation of the player.

The lawyer also sought compensation for material and moral damages he claimed resulted from not receiving his dues, as well as expenses incurred while handling the disputed matters.

The hearing date coincides with the start of a new chapter in Salah’s professional career with Trabzonspor. He was scheduled to make his debut in the Turkish league on August 15 against Kasimpasa, while his team faces Gungorenli on September 6—the same day set for the court hearing.

Thus, the judicial obligation requiring Salah’s personal appearance coincides with the beginning of his new football career in Turkey.
