Al-Ajiri: Al-Kubais a final stage of extreme heat... and Suhail is on the horizon

- Begins the day after tomorrow, Tuesday, and lasts for 13 days, paving the way for a gradual temperature decline

The Al-Ajyera Scientific Center announced that summer is entering its final stages with the arrival of the “Al-Kaleebin” season on August 11, which marks the last period of peak temperatures, preceding a gradual transition toward milder weather and the onset of the “Suhail” season.

In a press statement, the center explained that the “Al-Kaleebin” season lasts 13 days and represents a transitional phase between the intensity of summer heat and the initial appearance of the Suhail star, which is associated with the beginning of gradual improvements in weather conditions.

The center noted that the season begins with rising temperatures and intense heat, accompanied by increased humidity levels, while southern and southeast winds influence weather patterns during this period.

It added that winds known as “Samum” begin to subside during the Al-Kaleebin season, and the ground gradually starts to cool. As the season nears its end, temperatures begin to drop, and the weather gradually becomes milder.

The center clarified that the name “Al-Kaleebin” refers to two stars located within the constellation of the Greater Dog, known to astronomers, and noted that this period also sees a gradual increase in nighttime duration at the expense of daylight.
