Electricity Authority Awaits Audit Bureau Approval for 9 Contracts to Upgrade Networks
New water pumping station in Al-Nuaim to meet the area’s needs
Al-Siyasa has learned that the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy is awaiting approval from the Court of Accounts to award nine contracts aimed at developing and upgrading the water and electricity networks, as well as carrying out necessary maintenance works for the ministry’s facilities across various governorates.
Sources said the ministry obtained approval from the Central Tenders Board to award the contracts to bids that met the technical specifications, and submitted them at different times to the Court of Accounts for pre-audit control, verification, and review to ensure the integrity of procedures from the initial tendering process through to the awarding of contracts.
Development and Maintenance
The contracts include works to develop networks and enhance their efficiency, as well as execute necessary maintenance. Among the most prominent is a contract for maintaining high-pressure lines in the First Area, costing 2.156 million Kuwaiti dinars, in addition to a contract for supplying metering connections for the overhead distribution network lines.
Al-Nuaim Station
In a parallel development, the ministry plans to construct a water pumping station and its ancillary facilities in the Al-Nuaim area. The project has been included in the ministry’s contracts for the current fiscal year, paving the way for its tendering through the Central Tenders Board.
The project is part of the ministry’s efforts to ensure a supply of potable water and meet demand in new and promising areas, including Al-Nuaim, which is expected to witness the implementation of economic and strategic projects that will contribute to improving the investment climate and increasing value-added opportunities for both local and foreign investors. The new pumping station is scheduled to pump water to underground reservoirs that the ministry plans to build, from which the water will be re-pumped into distribution networks, ensuring adequate supply to consumers during normal consumption hours and peak periods.
