GCC Secretary-General Condemns Attack on Emirati Tanker: A Serious, Unacceptable Escalation and Threat to Maritime Navigation Security

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Mohamed Al-Bedawi, strongly condemned the Iranian attack on a tanker belonging to the UAE’s ADNOC company as it transited the Strait of Hormuz. He emphasized that the attack constitutes a serious and unacceptable escalation and a direct threat to the security and safety of maritime navigation and international trade in one of the world’s most vital waterways.

Al-Bedawi stressed the firm rejection of any Iranian attempts to turn this crucial international passage into a tool for coercion and threat. He called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and take a resolute stance to halt these serious attacks, prevent their recurrence, and ensure freedom and security of maritime navigation in accordance with the principles of international law, the law of the sea, and relevant international resolutions.
