Bahrain: 'Mecca Joint Defense Agreement' a qualitative addition to the Gulf defense system

- Welcomed its signing, considering it a strategic partnership that enhances regional security and stability

The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its welcome for the signing of the “Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense,” which was concluded during the Mecca Summit for Joint Defense, hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and signed by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

The Ministry affirmed that the three countries possess robust defense capabilities and distinguished military expertise, alongside prominent roles in supporting regional security and stability, and a track record of commitment to treaties and covenants.

It viewed the agreement as a strategic partnership among equal parties, each contributing its capacities to enhance regional and international security and stability, thereby strengthening their deterrence capabilities and granting them greater confidence.

It added that the agreement constitutes a qualitative addition to the joint defense system of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, contributing to enhancing its effectiveness and consolidating regional security and stability on the basis of solidarity, integration, and partnership among sister states.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its affirmation that the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is an integral part of the security of the Kingdom of Bahrain, emphasizing its support for all efforts aimed at enhancing regional security and stability, safeguarding the sovereignty of its states, preserving their territorial integrity, protecting their interests, and consolidating political solutions to address their issues.
