A lightning strike turned a football match in Thailand into a tragedy after it hit the pitch during the game, killing one player and injuring 12 others.
Video footage showed the moment the lightning struck during a local tournament featuring teams from Thailand and Malaysia, as well as amateur sides.
Police confirmed the death of player Sawwan Awai, who played as a winger and forward, who died from his injuries after being transferred to the hospital in critical condition, while 12 other players suffered various burns.
FC Yala, which competes in Thailand’s third division, mourned the loss of its player, Sawwan Awai.
