Bahrain condemns the Houthi terrorist attack on civilians and civilian objects in Saudi Arabia

Bahrain expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation on Friday of the heinous terrorist attack carried out by the Iran-backed Houthi militia using indiscriminate projectiles, which targeted civilian facilities and assets in the Najran region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, resulting in injuries to several innocent civilians.

In a statement, Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs considered this an escalation of a serious nature and a blatant violation of the rules of international law, international humanitarian law, and the United Nations Charter.

The Ministry reaffirmed Bahrain’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its complete support for the measures it is taking to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and stability, and to protect citizens and vital civilian infrastructure, while expressing wishes for the speedy recovery of all the injured.

It called for a firm international stance to hold the Iran-backed Houthi militia accountable and to cut off its sources of funding and arms, thereby contributing to the protection of civilians and the preservation of regional security and stability.

The Ministry reiterated Bahrain’s appreciation for the diplomatic, humanitarian, and developmental efforts led by Saudi Arabia, aimed at achieving a comprehensive and lasting political solution to the Yemeni crisis in accordance with the Gulf Cooperation Council Initiative and its implementation mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, and relevant Security Council resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216, thereby safeguarding Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and meeting its people’s aspirations for security, stability, and sustainable prosperity.
