'Affairs' Opens the Door for Charitable Associations to Contribute to the 'Emergency Response Fund'
“Fazaa” Private Sector Institutions Add $11 Million
As private sector institutions race to contribute to the Kuwait Emergency Response Fund in support of the national initiative aimed at enhancing the state’s readiness, the fund’s total rose by an additional $12 million yesterday, according to an announcement by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development. Consequently, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor has opened the door for charitable associations and welfare institutions wishing to donate to the fund.
In a letter issued yesterday, the ministry called on charitable associations and welfare institutions to consider contributing to the “Fund,” in support of efforts to strengthen the state’s readiness to handle emergency situations and conditions.
The Department of Associations and Welfare Institutions at the ministry clarified in its letter that the invitation is based on the establishment of the Fund, managed by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, with the objective of supporting and financing efforts aimed at enhancing the speed of response to emergency conditions and mitigating their impact on infrastructure and vital facilities.
It emphasized that the initiative embodies the importance of partnership and institutional integration among various entities, and contributes to unifying national efforts, thereby enhancing the state’s capacity to deal with challenges and emergency needs efficiently and effectively.
For his part, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development announced yesterday that STC contributed a total of $5 million, while Arzan Financial Group, Kuwait Real Estate Company, and International Financial Consulting Holding Company each contributed $1 million, totaling $3 million. It also noted three additional cash contributions, each valued at $1 million, provided by Heavy Engineering and Shipbuilding Industries Company, as well as in-kind contributions valued at $1 million from Mohammed bin Yousef Al-Nassif & Partners and Warba Insurance and Reinsurance Company.
The Fund stressed that the continued participation of private sector institutions in the list of supporters reflects growing national partnership and demonstrates the Kuwaiti private sector’s interest in supporting priority national initiatives, as well as its contribution to enhancing the state’s readiness and enabling relevant authorities to respond swiftly and effectively to various emergency situations and conditions.
