UN Approves Activation of ECOSOC Consultative Status for 'Al-Najat Charity'

Al-Wanda: The decision strengthens the Association’s international presence and opens broader horizons for partnerships

Dr. Jaber Al-Wanda, Director General of Al-Najah Charity Association, confirmed that the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) approved the activation of the Association’s consultative status, following the review and adoption of its periodic reports. This step reflects international confidence in the Association’s humanitarian trajectory.

Al-Wanda explained that the Association had obtained consultative status approximately eight years ago, and its activation serves as an affirmation of its continued commitment to best practices in charitable and humanitarian work.

He stated that this step opens wider avenues for the Association to engage with international organizations, participate in events and dialogues related to development and humanitarian action, and showcase its initiatives and expertise on the international stage.

He added that consultative status enhances international recognition of the Association’s role, supports the building of partnerships with global institutions and organizations, facilitates the leveraging of international expertise, and strengthens the confidence of donors and supporting entities in its projects.

He noted that the Association’s participation in the Council’s system underscores the leadership of Kuwaiti charitable work, highlighting that it is among the first Kuwaiti associations and institutions to establish a presence in this international organization.

He clarified that this membership contributes to documenting the Association’s humanitarian experiences, highlighting the role of Kuwaiti civil society institutions, and opening new fields for international cooperation. These efforts will reflect positively on the development of its programs and projects, enhance the efficiency of its staff, and enable the dignified representation of Kuwait at humanitarian forums.

Al-Wanda emphasized that the approval of the activation of consultative status constitutes an international certification of the quality of Al-Najah Charity Association’s performance, reinforcing its humanitarian impact locally and internationally, thereby consolidating the standing of Kuwaiti charitable work.
