Ministry of Health and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Discuss Enhancing Cooperation in the Field of the Right to Healthcare and Human Rights

Deputy Minister of Health Sheikh Dr. Salman Khalifa Al-Sabah held talks with Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Human Rights Affairs, Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher Ibrahim Duaij Al-Sabah, on ways to enhance institutional cooperation and coordination between the two ministries, thereby contributing to highlighting Kuwait’s efforts to consolidate the right to health and strengthen its presence at regional and international forums concerned with human rights.

The Ministry of Health stated in a press release on Wednesday that the meeting addressed ways to develop joint cooperation and exchange information and expertise related to the health sector, thereby supporting Kuwait’s commitment to relevant international conventions and treaties on human rights, and reflecting the state’s interest in ensuring the right to access healthcare in accordance with the principles of justice, equity, and equal opportunity.

It added that both sides reviewed the ministry’s efforts to provide comprehensive and integrated health services to all members of society, alongside national programs and initiatives aimed at protecting and promoting the health rights of various segments of society, including children, women, and persons with disabilities, in line with national legislation and relevant international conventions.

The ministry clarified that the meeting also discussed mechanisms to enhance coordination in preparing national and international reports and submissions related to the right to health, thereby contributing to documenting national achievements, highlighting the development of the health system, and supporting Kuwait’s standing and indicators in international reports and forums concerned with human rights.
