There is a set of behavioral traits that distinguish a mentally sound person from others. The more familiar a person is with these traits, the easier it becomes for him to identify those with sound minds.

This also helps him determine whom he can keep company with, accompany, sit with, or converse with, and whom he should avoid as much as possible.

Among the prominent traits of a mentally sound person in today’s turbulent world, we mention the following:

- Self-awareness: A mentally sound person is characterized by possessing traits of situational, social, and moral awareness, particularly awareness of himself, of who he is, of what his tongue utters, and of his actions, along with an understanding of the consequences and outcomes of his voluntary choices.

- Emotional control: A mentally sound person usually controls his emotions in response to what he encounters in life, especially in the external world. He rarely loses his temper, acts recklessly, or behaves irrationally in his reactions to ordinary matters in his surrounding environment. It is extremely difficult to provoke him in matters that should not provoke a fully sane person.

- Freedom from delusions and superstitions: A mentally sound person is also free from delusions, superstitions, and false intellectual hypotheses. He does not fall victim to them because he always thinks in a logical, objective, and sound manner.

- Absence of psychological complexes: A mentally sound person does not suffer from chronic psychological complexes, nor does he seek in his voluntary behaviors to compensate for any complexes, turbulent emotional grudges, or accumulated personal resentments. Instead, he speaks and acts rationally and moderately.

- Sound thinking: A mentally sound person is organized in his way of thinking, evaluates matters logically and objectively, and avoids catastrophic emotional thinking as much as possible, due to his awareness of the falsity of emotional analyses.

- A mentally sound person and loaded language: You will not find a mentally sound person excessively using emotionally charged language that is not based on facts. Rather, he tends to use objective language in his communication with everyone, due to his psychological and intellectual maturity.

- Guarding the tongue: A mentally sound person guards his tongue when he speaks little, thinks before he speaks, and distances himself from backbiting or discussing matters that do not concern him. Guarding the tongue ensures safety at all times and places.
