Ministry of Social Affairs to Cooperatives: Termination of services for workers over 70

- Identify covered employees within 30 days while preserving all their rights

Sources close to the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor revealed that “the Ministry has issued a circular to all cooperative societies and federations regarding the regulation of the status of employees who have exceeded the age of 70.”

The sources stated that “the circular required the societies to promptly identify the number of employees who have surpassed the age of 70 and take the necessary measures to terminate their services in accordance with the laws, regulations, and decisions governing them, while preserving and paying all their entitled financial and job-related rights and dues.”

It added that the Ministry has obligated the societies to submit a statement listing the names of employees who will be subject to the termination of service within a period not exceeding 30 days from the date of the circular.

The sources emphasized that compliance with the circular’s provisions comes within the framework of supporting replacement plans, empowering national talents, and enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of work in cooperative societies, thereby serving the public interest.
