'Health': Exclusive breastfeeding rate in Kuwait rises to 33%

- Campaign launched to mark “World Breastfeeding Week,” highlighting its health benefits for mothers and infants

The Ministry of Health launched an awareness campaign in observance of World Breastfeeding Week 2026, under the slogan “Together to Support Breastfeeding,” with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of breastfeeding and encouraging mothers to adhere to it, given its health benefits for both mothers and infants.

The Ministry emphasized that the rise in the rate of exclusive breastfeeding in Kuwait to 33% reflects the success of national programs and health initiatives aimed at supporting mothers and empowering them to adopt proper health practices during the first months of their child’s life.

It clarified that breastfeeding provides infants with all their nutritional needs during the first six months of life, helps strengthen their immunity, supports their physical and mental development, and reduces the risk of developing various diseases.

The Ministry stressed that supporting breastfeeding is a shared responsibility that requires the coordinated efforts of health institutions, society, and families, reaffirming its commitment to continuing awareness programs and providing support to mothers, thereby contributing to improving the health of future generations.
