Fake judge inside the courthouse... Unemployed man deceives his victims with a judicial scarf in Egypt

In an incident that seemed like a scene from a movie, an individual managed to enter one of the courtrooms in Cairo, donned a judicial sash, and took photos and video clips, thereby misleading his followers into believing he was a judge. Investigations later revealed the details of a wide-ranging fraud scheme in which the suspect exploited this impersonation to lure his victims.

Egyptian authorities disclosed the circumstances of the case after social media users circulated images and videos of a person wearing a judicial sash inside one of the courtrooms. It was revealed that the individual was unemployed and had assumed the identity of a judge with the aim of defrauding citizens.

Investigations showed that the suspect had agreed with three employees at a court in Cairo to allow him access to a hearing room after official working hours, in exchange for a bribe of $60,000 USD, equivalent to approximately 3 million Egyptian pounds.

Investigations indicated that the employees allowed the suspect to wear the judicial sash inside the courtroom, take video clips, and capture photos to lend an air of legitimacy to his claims.

The suspect posted these images and videos on his social media accounts, claiming to be a member of the judicial body. He exploited this appearance to convince his victims that he possessed the influence necessary to resolve complex legal and judicial procedures in exchange for financial payments.

After completing the investigations and locating him, authorities arrested the suspect and took legal action against the three employees involved in the incident.

Investigative authorities ordered the freezing of the suspect’s bank accounts and assets to verify their connection to the funds obtained through his activities. This was accompanied by an examination of the seized photos and videos, as well as the extraction of conversations he had with his victims via social media, to determine the number of victims and the total amount of money he acquired.

The measures also included the seizure of forged documents and papers found at his residence, and the summoning of the three complicit employees to confront them with the suspect’s confessions and the findings of the investigations.
