US President Donald Trump announced that the United States is holding talks with Iran regarding the mechanism and format of negotiations, confirming that the next round will begin tonight, Monday, as part of efforts to reach understandings between the two sides.

Trump stated that there is an agreement concerning the Strait of Hormuz, expressing confidence that an agreement on Iran’s nuclear program could also be reached, and emphasizing that Washington seeks the dismantling of Iran’s nuclear weapons.

He added that the United States was prepared to carry out a broad attack on Iran, asserting that the strikes would have continued and that the planned operation would have been “the largest since World War II.”

Trump noted that Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, along with Iran, had asked him to cancel the strike, which contributed to its non-execution.

He concluded his remarks by affirming that the coming days would reveal whether the negotiations would lead to an agreement ensuring the dismantling of Iran’s nuclear weapons.
