A number of ministers affirmed that the 36th anniversary of the brutal Iraqi invasion will remain an eternal national milestone, evoking the heroism of Kuwait’s sons, the sacrifices of its martyrs, their families, and the missing, as well as the steadfastness, unity, and cohesion around the legitimate leadership demonstrated by the Kuwaiti people in defense of the nation and its sovereignty.
In statements to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) and press releases marking the occasion, the ministers emphasized that the lessons of the invasion reinforce values of loyalty, belonging, and responsibility, and affirm that unity of ranks, cohesion of the domestic front, and teamwork are fundamental pillars for confronting challenges and safeguarding Kuwait’s security, stability, and achievements.
The ministers prayed to God Almighty to have mercy on Kuwait’s martyrs, to protect the country, its leadership, and its people, and to perpetuate the blessings of security, safety, stability, and prosperity under the leadership of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister.
Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaimis, stated that the anniversary of the invasion will remain a witness to the heroic deeds of Kuwaitis, which embodied the highest meanings of steadfastness, sacrifice, and loyalty in defense of the nation and its legitimacy. He noted that commemorating this occasion gains doubled importance amid the exceptional circumstances currently witnessed by the region.
He added that the anniversary strengthens the value of national solidarity and reinforces faith in the importance of unity of ranks and rallying around wise leadership, as these are fundamental pillars for preserving the nation’s security and stability. He expressed pride and honor in Kuwait’s righteous martyrs and their eternal sacrifices, which will remain a source of pride and inspiration for future generations.
Al-Mukhaimis appreciated the national efforts made by employees of the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy during the invasion period, as they continued operating power stations and desalination plants, thereby contributing to the continuity of basic services for citizens and residents who remained steadfast within the country.
He affirmed that current challenges necessitate drawing lessons and insights from that historical period, and entrenching values of responsibility, solidarity, and teamwork, thereby enhancing the state’s capacity to face various circumstances and preserving its security, stability, and achievements.

For his part, Dr. Nader Al-Jarallah, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stated that the anniversary of the invasion is a national occasion to recall the lessons of resilience and renew the responsibility toward the homeland. For his part, Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma, Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs, affirmed that the anniversary of the invasion will remain an eternal national milestone recalling the heroism and sacrifices of the nation’s sons who wrote the finest examples of loyalty and belonging in defense of the homeland and its legitimacy. Al-Hawila stated that August 2, 1990, was a day when the nation’s sons demonstrated values of loyalty, belonging, and commitment to legitimacy and national identity, noting that images of the Kuwaiti people’s resilience manifested in family, neighborhood, mutual aid, and volunteer work to protect people and the homeland and enhance social cohesion. She added that rapid developments in the region and the attacks the country suffered during the current year reaffirm that a cohesive domestic front has become a fundamental pillar for overcoming challenges and maintaining stability. She stressed that national unity, rallying around the homeland, its leadership, and institutions are entrenched foundations for safeguarding Kuwait’s security and stability and enhancing its social resilience, and that this is a shared responsibility among the nation’s sons.

Minister of Oil Tariq Al-Roumi said the anniversary of the invasion will remain an eternal national milestone in Kuwait’s history, from which the Ministry of Oil and the oil sector will draw meanings of responsibility and dedication to continue working to preserve oil wealth as one of the fundamental pillars of the national economy, enhance energy security, and support the path of sustainable development.
He added that the invasion embodied the resilience, unity, and cohesion of the Kuwaiti people around their legitimate leadership, as well as the immortal heroism of the martyrs and the sacrifices of prisoners and the missing, and all those who contributed to defending the country and restoring its sovereignty.

Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing, Eng. Abdul Latif Al-Musharraf, affirmed that the anniversary of the invasion will remain a testament to the resilience, unity, and cohesion of the Kuwaiti people around their legitimate leadership in the face of one of the most difficult chapters in the country’s history.
Al-Musharraf said the anniversary proudly recalls the sacrifices of the martyrs, prisoners, and the missing, and immortalizes the heroic deeds performed by Kuwaitis in defense of their homeland, noting that the solidarity between the leadership and the people formed the fundamental pillar that paved the way for liberation and the restoration of sovereignty.

For his part, Finance Minister Dr. Yaqoob Al-Rifai affirmed that August 2 will remain a firmly entrenched national milestone in the memory of every Kuwaiti, evoking unity of ranks, solidarity between the leadership and the people, and the will that triumphed over the occupation, ensuring that Kuwait remains free, proud, and unyielding.
Al-Rifai said this occasion proudly and reverently recalls the sacrifices of the sons of the nation who defended Kuwait’s land and sovereignty, and the righteous martyrs who inscribed the highest meanings of loyalty and belonging with their blood.
