Charitable Institutions on the 36th Anniversary of the Invasion: Social Cohesion as Kuwait's Impregnable Fortress
Charitable institutions in the State of Kuwait commemorated the 36th anniversary of the brutal Iraqi invasion, affirming that it is a timeless national milestone that evokes the values of resilience and sacrifice across generations, and renews the pledge of loyalty to the homeland and unity around the wise political leadership.
Leaders of the charitable sector stressed that social cohesion has been and will remain Kuwait’s impregnable fortress, firmly rejecting and strongly condemning any attacks that threaten the state’s sovereignty or the stability of its vital facilities, and pledging to continue their national and humanitarian mission.
Hamad Al-Ali, Secretary-General of the Al-Isalah Social Association, affirmed that what Kuwait suffered in 1990 was a blatant aggression that violated international law, but the will of Kuwaitis proved stronger than all attempts to break them.
Al-Ali noted that the association was present from the first moments of the invasion through solidarity committees, care for families and martyrs’ relatives, as well as its international efforts to support the just Kuwaiti cause. He also condemned Iran’s recent attacks on vital facilities, emphasizing that Kuwait’s history proves it is immune to all aggressors.
For his part, Saad Al-Otaibi, President of the Federation of Charitable Associations and Orphanages, stated that this painful anniversary confirms that rallying around political leadership is the country’s safety valve.
Al-Otaibi condemned the Iranian attacks, reiterating the Federation’s rejection of any threat to the nation’s security, and stressing that the charitable sector is fully mobilizing its human and volunteer resources to support national efforts. He called on everyone to obtain information from official sources and counter rumors.
In turn, Abdulaziz Al-Kandari, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Namaa Charitable Organization, noted that this anniversary stands as a testament to the resilience of the Kuwaiti people, and that charitable work represents one facet of soft power and Kuwait’s civilizational message.
Al-Kandari condemned the targeting of vital infrastructure and civilians, explaining that Namaa is deploying all its expertise in service of Kuwait to reinforce the values of cooperation and solidarity that were established during the occupation, remaining an inspiring lesson for future generations.
Finally, the charitable leaders prayed to God Almighty to protect Kuwait, its leadership, and its people, to perpetuate the blessings of security, safety, and stability upon it, and to keep it as an oasis of goodness and generosity.
