Series of earthquakes strike northern Iraq without reported casualties

The General Authority for Meteorology and Seismology, under Iraq’s Ministry of Transport, announced on Friday that the northern province of Kirkuk was hit by a series of earthquakes, with no reported human or material casualties.

In a statement, the Authority noted that seismic observatories recorded a series of tremors in the city of Kirkuk from Thursday evening through Friday morning.

It clarified that among these tremors was an earthquake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale, located 30 kilometers east of Kirkuk province, which was felt by residents.

The Authority added that its statistics showed 50 earthquakes were recorded in Iraq and neighboring areas during the previous month of June, with no human casualties reported.
