Closure of Abdel Halim Hafez's Home Leaves the Public Shocked and Disappointed
The family of the late artist Abdel Halim Hafez announced the permanent closure of his home in the Zamalek district of Cairo to visitors and the general public, restricting access solely to close family and friends, in accordance with his final wishes and to safeguard the house’s private belongings. In an official statement posted on the Facebook page of the Abdel Halim Hafez Collections Management Office, the family explained that the decision followed difficulties in managing daily visits and aimed to protect the home’s furniture and contents from repeated attempts by some visitors to damage or mistreat them. The family confirmed the permanent cancellation of online visit reservations on the official website, limiting access to the 50 years that have passed.
