In his Throne Speech, the King emphasized that Morocco is undergoing a pivotal stage in its development trajectory and called for an atmosphere of trust and optimism to prevail.
He affirmed that Morocco has consolidated its position as a reliable, respected, and influential international actor, emerging as a significant economic player and a sought-after partner in balanced, future-oriented partnerships.
Reflecting on what has been achieved, he expressed a blend of pride in the accomplishments, optimism for the future, and confidence and reassurance that provide the strength and motivation to continue efforts.
Looking ahead to the post-election period and the formation of a new government, he expressed the intention to launch a new phase in the development process, with the motto of safeguarding gains and continuing major projects and reforms.
He stressed that stability in a regional and international environment marked by sharp fluctuations and disturbances is the cornerstone of the development equation and Morocco’s most crucial strategic asset.
Rabat, Capitals – Agencies: King Mohammed VI of Morocco affirmed that he has never sought personal glory or recognition for a leading role at either the continental or international levels. He stressed that his sole concern is to faithfully serve the people and enable all Moroccans to live free and dignified lives.
In his Throne Speech delivered on the occasion of the 27th anniversary of his accession to the throne, the King stated, “Looking back at what we have achieved together, I feel a mix of pride in the accomplishments and optimism for the future. This is not merely a sense of self-satisfaction, but a positive feeling of confidence and reassurance that gives us the strength and motivation to continue our efforts.” He emphasized that all that has been achieved was not a product of chance, but the result of a clear strategic direction and diligent work based on good governance, close monitoring, constructive self-criticism, and a determined, positive outlook toward the future. He added, “We are living through a decisive stage in our country’s development path, where an atmosphere of trust and optimism must prevail over discourses of despair and frustration. What brings the most pride and honor is the security and stability enjoyed by Morocco, and the efficiency and effectiveness characterizing the work of state institutions.”
The King stressed that in a regional and international environment marked by sharp fluctuations and disturbances, political and institutional stability constitutes a rare and invaluable asset. He affirmed that stability is the fundamental factor in the development equation and Morocco’s most important strategic reserve. He thanked God Almighty for the success and guidance granted in his efforts to realize Morocco’s aspirations and address its concerns, saying, “Looking back at what we have achieved together, I feel a mix of pride in the accomplishments and optimism for the future. This is not merely a sense of self-satisfaction, but a positive feeling of confidence and reassurance that gives us the strength and motivation to continue our efforts. All that has been achieved was not a product of chance, but the fruit of a clear strategic direction and a governance model based on initiative, close monitoring, constructive self-criticism, and a determined, positive outlook toward the future.”
He also emphasized the need to consolidate Morocco’s position as a reliable, respected, and influential international actor, affirming that the country has become a significant economic player and a sought-after partner within new, balanced, and forward-looking partnerships. This has enabled Morocco to confidently and clearly engage with all its partners, proposing constructive partnership frameworks, promising cooperation initiatives, and addressing major bilateral and global issues. With full commitment and responsibility, Morocco has chosen to diversify its partnerships, thereby enhancing its capacities and increasing their value across various fields. He considered that the economic and social gains achieved transcend governmental and parliamentary terms, representing the result of years of cumulative positive developments driven by strategic direction and sound major choices. He regarded as a source of great pride and honor the security and stability enjoyed by Morocco, as well as the efficiency and effectiveness characterizing the work of state institutions. He emphasized that Morocco is a historic country whose strength derives from its entrenched traditions as a nation-state, where institutions fulfill their roles within a framework of harmony and integration, thereby providing the necessary efficiency for state action. This enables the continuation of achievements and the overcoming of challenges despite difficulties and constraints. Morocco’s well-organized hosting of continental and international events has earned it admiration and respect worldwide, occasionally arousing the envy of some. The Kingdom has also demonstrated considerable capacity in confronting disasters and crises, particularly through the proactive management of the floods that affected the Gharb and Northern regions.
Thanks to security and stability, as well as institutional effectiveness, positive indicators are rising across various sectors, bolstering the trajectory of economic growth and strengthening national sovereignty. Growth reached approximately 4.9 percent in 2025, and is projected to reach or exceed this rate in 2026. In the agricultural sector, Morocco experienced significant rainfall and a favorable farming season, contributing to enhanced water and food security.
Morocco has also strengthened its position as a hub for industrial, tourism, and financial investment, a trend reflected in the development of key indicators, particularly in industry. Sectors such as automotive, aerospace, renewable energy, and food processing constitute fundamental pillars of the national productive fabric, both in attracting foreign investment and in generating wealth and employment opportunities. The Kingdom has become Africa’s leading car exporter, with an annual production capacity of around one million vehicles. Consequently, Morocco’s exports from the automotive and aerospace sectors now account for over 40 percent of total exports, surpassing phosphate products.
To reinforce this trend, we presided over the launch ceremony of new factories at the beginning of the year, marking Morocco’s entry into the exclusive club of countries possessing major industrial centers for aircraft engine and landing gear manufacturing. Furthermore, the development of an integrated electric battery sector demonstrates Morocco’s capacity to anticipate technological shifts and integrate into production chains linked to strategic industries. In the same spirit of innovation and development, major projects are underway to establish renewable energy as a cornerstone of energy security and a driver for attracting industries seeking competitive, carbon-free power. To advance this ambitious strategy, the implementation of Morocco’s green hydrogen offer has begun, with the licensing of an initial group of major projects.
Against an international backdrop marked by the return of protectionist policies and efforts to secure supply and production chains, we have made strengthening national sovereignty and strategic self-sufficiency a central pillar of industrial development. A prime example is the food and pharmaceutical industries, which now meet approximately 80 percent of domestic needs. Meanwhile, the establishment of an industrial and technological base in defense and cybersecurity industries will gradually enhance defense sovereignty, create development opportunities, and consolidate our country’s position as a regional power in these sectors.
On its part, the tourism sector achieved a historic milestone in 2025 by welcoming approximately 20 million tourists, including members of the Moroccan community residing abroad. Alongside economic advancement, we continue to implement numerous initiatives and human development programs, while expanding social protection to improve Moroccans’ living conditions and achieve social and territorial justice. In this context, we emphasize the necessity of effectively implementing integrated territorial development programs, ensuring they cover all regions and areas without exception.
Moreover, the path toward economic and social transformation requires unprecedented financial resources, the majority of which must be mobilized through domestic financing. We therefore call on the national financial sector to continue supporting investment and major projects, and to achieve a qualitative leap in expanding access to banking and non-banking financing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), innovation, manufacturing, and exports. We look forward to the financial sector opening up broader and more innovative avenues, ensuring optimal mobilization of national savings, particularly institutional ones, and revitalizing financial markets to accelerate the development dynamics of the rising Morocco.
King Mohammed VI concluded his address by stating, “We seize the occasion of celebrating the glorious Throne Day to reiterate our pride and appreciation for all components of the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie, the territorial administration, national security forces, auxiliary forces, and civil protection, for their constant mobilization under our leadership to defend the unity, security, and stability of the nation. We also solemnly recall the pure souls of Morocco’s righteous martyrs, foremost among them our revered grandfather and father, the two blessed kings, Mohammed V and Hassan II, may God have mercy on them.”
