Kuwait Finance House announced its support for the national initiative launched by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development to establish the “Kuwait Emergency Response Fund,” through a financial contribution of $13 million, as well as a request to contribute an additional $6 million to repair damaged power stations. This underscores its commitment to its national and social responsibilities and supports efforts to enhance the country’s readiness and capacity to cope with exceptional circumstances and protect vital infrastructure.
On this occasion, Hamad Al-Marzouq, Chairman of the Board of Kuwait Finance House, emphasized that supporting strategic national initiatives is an integral part of the Bank’s institutional mission and developmental role. He pointed to the continuation of its contributions to initiatives that enhance security and stability and support sustainable development, driven by the values of corporate social responsibility, community partnership, and its pioneering national role.
Al-Marzouq expressed Kuwait Finance House’s pride in being an active partner in major national initiatives that contribute to enhancing the country’s readiness and capacity to face various challenges and changes. He explained that the contribution of $13 million to support the Kuwait Emergency Response Fund and $6 million to repair damaged power stations stems from the Bank’s belief in the importance of the Fund as a sustainable institutional framework to direct resources toward strategic priorities, thereby enhancing emergency response efficiency and the sustainability of essential services. He noted that the Bank is committed to its national role toward the state, particularly under exceptional circumstances.
Al-Marzouq reaffirmed Kuwait Finance House’s commitment to continuing its support for national initiatives and projects with strategic impact, thereby enhancing integration between state institutions and the private sector, contributing to serving the national interest, and supporting the path of sustainable development in Kuwait.
The Group’s Strategic Contributions
Kuwait Finance House has a distinguished record in supporting national and community initiatives. Among its most prominent contributions are:
• Contributing KD 15 million to build and equip the Heart Diseases and Research Center at Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital.
• Establishing the Addiction Treatment Hospital and opening its tenth wing, at a total cost of KD 4.5 million.
• Contributing KD 8 million to reconstruct the area damaged by the fire at Al-Mubarakiya Market.
• Contributing KD 20 million to establish 15 ambulance centers in support of the health system.
• Launching a strategic initiative in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice to settle the debts of indebted individuals, with the Bank contributing more than KD 61 million since 2019.
• Contributing KD 10 million to the fund supporting government efforts to confront the coronavirus pandemic, in addition to another independent contribution.
Kuwait Emergency Response Fund
The Kuwait Emergency Response Fund was established by a Cabinet decision and is managed by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, with an initial capital of US$100 million, aiming to enhance national preparedness and strengthen the state’s capacity to confront exceptional circumstances and challenges.
The Fund works to mobilize and direct financial resources toward priority projects and programs, particularly the rehabilitation of damaged facilities and supporting national efforts to address the impacts of damage inflicted on infrastructure and critical facilities in the State of Kuwait.
