The General Department for Combating Narcotics has arrested 16 suspects in nine separate cases following intensive surveillance and investigations that uncovered their activities involving the possession of narcotics and psychoactive substances with intent to traffic and consume, as part of the continuous security efforts undertaken by the Ministry of Interior to combat the scourge of drugs and confront their distributors.
The arrests led to the seizure of 3 kilograms and 35 grams of methamphetamine, 15 grams of heroin, 11 grams of hashish, and 2 grams of “chemical” substance, in addition to 96 sheets saturated with the chemical liquid and tablets saturated with the same substance.
Authorities also seized 2,502 tablets of Captagon, 81 tablets and capsules of psychoactive substances, 3 sensitive scales, and 960 Kuwaiti dinars derived from trafficking proceeds.
In one case, the General Department for Combating Narcotics foiled an attempt to smuggle a quantity of methamphetamine into the country. Precise investigations revealed a postal shipment in which the substance had been secretly concealed. The shipment was tracked, and the suspect was arrested immediately upon receipt. Authorities also found in his possession another quantity of methamphetamine intended for distribution.
The suspects and seized items were referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal actions against them.
