The Ministry Intensifies Preparations for the Upcoming Academic Year

In a race against time, the Ministry of Education has intensified its preparations to welcome the 2026-2027 academic year through a comprehensive plan aimed at enhancing the readiness of public schools. This initiative is being implemented in accordance with directives from Minister of Education Eng. Syed Jalal Al-Tabatabai, to ensure the provision of a safe and stimulating educational environment for teaching and administrative staff, as well as students.

Meanwhile, Assistant Undersecretary for Administrative, Financial, and Technical Affairs Eng. Mohammed Al-Khalidi chaired an expanded meeting with the relevant engineering teams to monitor maintenance works, review progress percentages across various educational districts, and discuss mechanisms to accelerate implementation and adhere to the schedule for completing all tasks before the start of classes. He revealed that the General Administration of Educational Facilities and Projects has formed 10 engineering teams to directly supervise maintenance works in 949 public schools. Approximately 100 engineers continue their field rounds to monitor civil, electrical, and air conditioning unit maintenance, with each engineer overseeing up to 10 schools. The goal is to complete major works by the end of August, while maintenance contracts remain active to address any emergency breakdowns.

The Ministry clarified that the meeting reviewed the digital monitoring mechanisms adopted by the Ministry, utilizing the "Baligh" program to receive and track reports immediately. This is complemented by monitoring screens and performance indicators tailored for leadership, contributing to faster decision-making and improved efficiency.

Al-Khalidi emphasized that preparations for the academic year represent a national responsibility requiring integrated efforts and coordination among all relevant entities. He stressed the importance of intensifying field visits, ensuring that works comply with approved technical specifications, and increasing the pace of completion in the coming phase. He added that continuous periodic evaluations and technical support will be provided to guarantee school readiness from the very first day of classes.
