'Traffic': 24,900 violations issued and 223 vehicles impounded

The Traffic and Operations Sector, represented by the General Directorate of Traffic, continued to carry out intensive traffic campaigns across various governorates of the country from July 20 to 26, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance road safety, reinforce discipline on the roads, and apprehend violators.

The General Directorate of Traffic announced that the campaigns resulted in issuing 24,979 traffic violations, detaining 18 individuals at the Traffic Police station, and referring 8 juveniles to the Juvenile Court to complete legal procedures against them. Additionally, 223 vehicles and 9 motorcycles were impounded in the impound lot, while 2,673 traffic reports were handled. The Directorate also followed up on 933 collision incidents, including 170 collisions resulting in injuries, taking necessary measures to secure accident scenes and maintain the flow of traffic.

On the security front, two suspects suspected of possessing narcotics and five individuals in abnormal conditions were apprehended and referred to the General Directorate for Combating Narcotics. Furthermore, 52 individuals were detained for the expiration of their residency permits, and one person was caught without official identification. In addition, 42 individuals and 11 vehicles wanted by authorities were apprehended, and all persons and vehicles were transferred to the relevant authorities to take legal action against them.

The General Directorate of Traffic reaffirmed its commitment to continuing field campaigns across various governorates, urging all drivers to comply with traffic regulations and cooperate with security personnel, thereby contributing to the safety and security of road users and the preservation of lives and property.
