Peru's Ambassador: Committed to strengthening our relations with Kuwait and looking forward to expanding cooperation

The Embassy Organized a Biodiversity Exhibition

The Peruvian Ambassador, Carlos Jimenez, reaffirmed his country’s commitment to continuing to strengthen its relations with Kuwait. During the opening yesterday of a photographic exhibition organized by the Embassy on birds, insects, and plants as part of the celebrations marking the 205th anniversary of his country’s independence, he praised the bonds of friendship and mutual respect between the two nations, expressing his aspiration to expand bilateral cooperation in various fields to serve the common interests of the two friendly peoples.

For his part, Jimenez stated that the exhibition aims to highlight Peru’s exceptional biodiversity and to enhance cultural convergence and exchange between the Peruvian and Kuwaiti peoples.

He added that Peru is among the most biodiverse countries in the world, encompassing the Amazon rainforests, the Andes mountain range, and Pacific Ocean coastlines, making it home to thousands of species of birds, insects, and plants, some of which are found nowhere else in the world. He noted that protecting this natural heritage is a national priority.

He continued by saying that Peru encompasses vast areas of natural reserves managed by specialized government institutions, led by the Ministry of Environment, with the aim of preserving rare and endemic species and supporting scientific research related to biodiversity.

In response to a question regarding the role of such events in strengthening relations between peoples, Jimenez emphasized that culture, arts, and nature serve as important bridges for communication between countries. He pointed out that despite the differences in the natural environments of Kuwait and Peru, both countries share a strong connection to the sea and a deep pride in their maritime heritage.

He noted that such exhibitions help bring peoples closer together and open new horizons for understanding and cooperation, affirming that relations between Kuwait and Peru continue to develop across various fields, and that the Embassy is working to expand cooperation in cultural, tourism, and economic aspects.

Commenting on the organization of the exhibition amid current regional circumstances, the Ambassador said that the world is going through a delicate phase, but life must go on. He explained that cultural activities provide people with space for reflection and tranquility, alleviating the psychological pressures imposed by crises.

He added that the continued organization of such events reflects an atmosphere of security and stability, and underscores that societies need culture and the arts as much as they need development and prosperity.
