After achieving great success in the first and second seasons of the series "Shari' al-A'asha," the duo of Lama Al-Kanaani and Alaa Salem is preparing to embark on a new dramatic experience in collaboration with Netflix. Filming has commenced in Riyadh, featuring a cast of prominent artistic stars. Netflix is set to broadcast the new Saudi series "Me, My Friend, and Our Husband," which brings together Lama Al-Kanaani and Alaa Salem in a dramatic venture that blends comedy and romance by focusing on contemporary stories within human relationships. The series consists of six episodes, is filmed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and is written by Alaa Hamza, directed by Fikrat Qadi, and produced by Kalila Company.

The collaboration between Lama Al-Kanaani and Alaa Salem revives the striking harmony that emerged between them in the series "Shari' al-A'asha," which achieved significant success in its past seasons and marked the beginning of a distinctive partnership between the two. In that series, they portrayed the roles of two sisters, Awatif and Azizah.

The series "Me, My Friend, and Our Husband" marks the first project for Saudi artist Lama Al-Kanaani following the controversy that arose months ago regarding her final retirement from the arts. Some circulated a post by her in which she confirmed she would close that chapter of her life, which had not lasted more than two years. She indicated that the message served as a farewell, as she had decided to completely end her acting experience. She clarified that this decision might not be accepted by everyone, but it reflects her personal conviction and vision for her life in the coming period, emphasizing that she prefers to make this choice at a time she deems appropriate. She noted that the previous phase was pivotal in reorganizing her priorities on both personal and professional levels, pointing out that fame and being in the spotlight are not sufficient on their own to sustain a presence in the artistic field. She explained that she decided to step away from acting by her own free will, without any external influences or pressures, affirming that retirement, for her, is a calculated decision that opens the door to a different beginning in her life. Despite this message, some insisted it was not attributed to her, and some sources pointed to a hack of her account. However, the Saudi artist preferred silence and refrained from responding to clarify the truth of the matter.

The harmony that emerged between the duo on television did not remain confined to the screen; it extended into their personal lives. Luma Al-Kanani previously spoke about the nature of her relationship with fellow Saudi actresses, emphasizing that what unites them in reality far outweighs any notion of competition. She stated, “It is essential today that we support and love one another. There are many things that do not become public. Sometimes one of us goes through a difficult situation or falls ill and is hospitalized, but we do not portray these moments because our relationship is genuine.”

She made a point of thanking Saudi actress Ilham Ali for attending her sister’s wedding, while noting that a friendship exists between her and Alaa Salim and Amira Al-Sharif that transcends their professional collaboration. She explained that they maintain a private Snapchat group to ensure continuous communication.

It is worth noting that Luma Al-Kanani and Alaa Salim achieved remarkable success over two years in the series “Shari’ Al-Ash’a” (The Asha’s Street), in both its parts, by portraying the sisters Aziza and Awatf. Their characters were central to many unexpected plot developments, particularly after the first part concluded with Awatf’s death, only to surprise the audience with her survival at the beginning of the second part. Meanwhile, Aziza undertook numerous adventures to conceal her sister’s secret, especially the love story that united her with Saad, portrayed by actor Bara’ Alam.
