The Sea

An elder said: “Although fresh water from rain and rivers, as well as from melting mountain snows, flows into the sea, the sea remains salty. Do not exhaust yourself, for human nature will not change, no matter how much fresh water you try to pour into it.

Fresh water stays fresh, and salt water stays salty. Those whose nature is evil remain evil and harmful. Some people’s very existence is a source of harm, which manifests in their behavior. Others find pleasure in remaining salty, indeed, in being highly saline.

And tomorrow will be another day.
