Major Projects for a Modern State

Major Projects for a Modern State

When you hear the roar of cannons, begin construction. This is the principle that His Highness the Prime Minister, Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, has worked upon, because he knows that major projects provide greater stability for the country. Thus, despite the difficult conditions the region is undergoing, the Cabinet recently approved two important projects that serve a major developmental function, helping Kuwait emerge from this regional crisis stronger, while simultaneously encouraging foreign investment in the state and securing jobs for citizens.

The “Shahin” project, as the largest oil investment, along with the project to convert Kuwait Airways into a company, as well as decisions aimed at improving economic activity, signify the implementation of a roadmap toward a more competitive national economy, thereby serving the “Kuwait 2035” vision, which is now within reach. Because current major projects, in addition to other ongoing initiatives, give Kuwait greater capacity to keep pace with global economic developments and enable it, after the end of this war, to become a bridge between East and West.

A preliminary review of these projects, including the Port of Mishref project, housing movement projects, and openness to the world, indicates that Kuwait now possesses the foundational basis for competition. Particularly given its strategic location, social culture, and economic flexibility, all of this helps it become a global financial and economic hub.

On this basis, His Highness President Ahmad Abdullah works to align all these elements, strengthening Kuwait’s strategic economic power and increasing its influence in the regional economy of the Middle East and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

All of this stems from wise directives from His Highness the Emir and the Crown Prince, to make Kuwait an influential force, despite its relatively small size compared to larger countries, which cannot escape a rigid economy.

Kuwait, with the current government and under the leadership of a Prime Minister who is an expert economist with extensive experience in investment work, means that the right man for this position has demonstrated significant capabilities since assuming his current role.

On this basis, the achievements we witness from time to time are the inevitable result of a modern state seeking to move out of the circle of reliance on a single revenue source, while possessing substantial human resources, financial capabilities, and excellent relations with all countries of the world.

Therefore, the construction His Highness the President is currently working on is what will bear fruit when the melody of peace is heard. Thus, Kuwait is well, and will remain so, as long as it has political leadership that places the interests of the country and its people above all else.
