Washington, Capitals – Agencies: U.S. President Donald Trump escalated his pressure on Republican senators, calling for the use of what is known as the “nuclear option” to bypass the filibuster and pass the “Save America Act,” while warning that failure to approve the bill could harm the Republican Party’s prospects in the upcoming midterm elections.

On his Truth Social platform, Trump urged Republicans to “use the nuclear option,” referring to the parliamentary procedure that allows changes to Senate rules by a simple majority, rather than the 60-vote threshold required to end a filibuster and proceed to vote on legislation. He called for expediting the bill’s passage before Congress begins its August recess.
