Qatar and Saudi Arabia discuss efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region

Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, held talks on Sunday with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on the latest regional developments.

A statement from Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the discussion took place during a phone call initiated by the Saudi foreign minister, during which the two sides reviewed bilateral cooperation relations and ways to support and strengthen them, as well as discussed the latest regional developments, particularly diplomatic efforts and joint coordination to de-escalate tensions and enhance security and stability in the region.

According to the statement, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman emphasized the need for all parties to commit to dialogue and diplomacy, and to implement the agreements reached under the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, including ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, to safeguard regional security, preserve achieved gains, and promote regional stability.
