Syria: 35 killed and 30 injured in bus collision on Damascus-Deir ez-Zor road
Thirty-five people were killed and 30 others injured on Saturday in a horrific traffic accident on the Damascus–Deir ez-Zor highway, according to Syrian state television.
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that the crash resulted from a collision between a bus carrying members of the Internal Security Forces and a civilian bus, in the area between Sukhnah and Palmyra in eastern Homs countryside.
The Syrian Ministry of Defense announced that it had dispatched several helicopters to participate in medical evacuation operations, transporting the injured and victims to the Homs Military Hospital.
For his part, the Syrian Civil Defense, affiliated with the Ministry of Emergency Affairs and Disaster Management, stated via its Telegram channel that its teams mobilized from the Palmyra center, with requests for support from Deir ez-Zor centers, to respond to the incident. They managed to control the fire that broke out after the buses collided, while relevant authorities continued their work at the accident site.
