Ashour: Al-Salmiya's goal is to compete for all titles
Kuwait heads to the London camp... and Al-Nasr in Cairo
Salmiya’s Bahraini coach Ali Ashour confirmed that “his team is striving to compete in all local tournaments in which it participates.”
He added that Salmiya’s objective is to return to the podium and deliver standout performances that help achieve this goal, wishing that “the Sky Blues” succeed in reaching their desired target.
He further noted that his team began training with a large number of players present, clarifying that some professional players will join the squad at the earliest opportunity.

Salmiya had previously signed Uzbek professional Shahzod Azimdinov and Bahraini Abdullah Youssef, while Brazilian Alex Lima is expected to continue his career with the club. Meanwhile, the status of Syrian player Mahmoud Al-Aswad remains unclear regarding his continuation or departure. The club announced that Syrians Amr Midani and Bahraini Sayed Diya will not continue with the team.
Ashour pointed out that some players are training in two sessions—morning and evening—to compensate for the long absence of certain squad members due to the suspension of competitions in the recent past.
He clarified that the Sky Blues will hold a training camp in the Turkish city of Izmit, during which the team will play four friendly matches to prepare adequately for the new season.
On another note, a delegation from Al-Kuwait Club is departing for London today to hold a training camp, which will include several friendly matches, in preparation for the new season.
“The Whites” are aiming to prepare properly for the season and defend their Premier League title in an ideal manner. The team is also preparing to participate in the 2022 AFC Champions League.
Meanwhile, Al-Nasr has set August 1 as the start date for its training camp in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, which will run until August 20. The team will play three friendly matches against Libyan club Al-Ahly Tripoli and Saudi club Al-Tawun.
Al-Nasr, led by national coach Dhahir Al-Adwani, aims to enhance players’ readiness and prepare appropriately before embarking on their journey in the Premier League, which kicks off on August 25.
Tunisian professional Hazem Hajj, Malian Moriba Diarra, and Sudanese Abdulrahman Koko have joined the training sessions of “the Camels,” while Algerian Ayman Lkcac and Mauritanian Sidi Yacoub will join Al-Nasr’s delegation at the Cairo camp.
