Crime Shakes Alexandria... Lawyer Arrested on Suspicion of Killing and Dismembering Her Mother
A report of a foul odor emanating from an apartment in the Sidi Bishr district led to the discovery of a crime that shocked Alexandria, after security forces found parts of an elderly woman’s body inside her home, with suspicions then turning to her daughter, a lawyer.
On Thursday, security forces arrested the suspect at her residence in Giza Governorate, in preparation for presenting her to the Public Prosecution and interrogating her, according to local media.
Residents of the building had reported the smell to security forces on Wednesday. A police unit responded to the scene and discovered the body, while forensic experts seized a knife and scissors suspected of being used in the crime.
Preliminary investigations pointed to the victim’s daughter as a suspect in the incident, amid reports that she had endured severe psychological and humanitarian hardships following the death of her child years earlier. No official final conclusions have been issued regarding the motives behind the crime.

Attorney Tariq Al-Awadi, a member of the Presidential Amnesty Committee and a cassation lawyer, called on the Ministry of Interior and relevant authorities to issue an official statement clarifying the facts of the case and putting an end to circulating information and speculation. He noted that the lawyer had endured severe psychological and humanitarian conditions before, during, and after her daughter’s death.
