Civil Aviation Authority Signs Contract with British Company to Operate and Develop Air Navigation Services at the Airport

The Kuwait General Authority of Civil Aviation signed a contract today, Thursday, with the British company NATS Services for the operation, management, monitoring, and control of maintenance, improvements, and development of air navigation services at Kuwait International Airport, valued at 18.6 million dinars (approximately 60 million US dollars), for a duration of five years.
The contract was signed on the Kuwaiti side by the Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Sheikh Engineer Hamoud Mubarak Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, while it was signed on behalf of the British company by Managing Director and Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Global Services, Benjamin Leonard Kew. The signing took place in the presence of the Acting Director General of the Authority, Engineer Daigh Al-Attiyah, the Company’s Chief Executive Officer, Martin John Rolf, and a number of officials from both sides.

Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the sidelines of the signing, Engineer Saad Al-Attiyah, Deputy Director General for Planning and Projects at the Civil Aviation Authority, stated that the contract is part of the Authority’s strategy to develop air navigation services at Kuwait International Airport, under direct directives from the political leadership and with close follow-up by the Authority’s Chairman, Sheikh Hamoud Al-Sabah. The aim is to enhance operational and managerial efficiency, train national cadres, strengthen monitoring activities, and oversee maintenance, improvements, and development across various air navigation services.
Al-Attiyah added that the project involves the operation, management, and development of Kuwaiti air navigation services, as well as the development of airspace and route designs to meet the latest developments in Kuwait and the region, in compliance with the annexes of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
He clarified that the project also includes establishing a comprehensive air traffic management system, managing and evaluating maintenance, controlling all equipment and facilities, providing recommendations regarding rehabilitation and development plans, alongside training, qualifying, and enhancing the capabilities of human resources in the air navigation sector.
