US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that the United States would hold Iran responsible for any new attacks launched by the Houthis, warning that Tehran and the group would face “major military punishment” if attacks on navigation persist.

Trump added in a post on the “Truth Social” platform that the United States had launched wide-ranging attacks against the Houthis a year ago in response to their targeting of trade and navigation and firing on ships, noting that they had acted “with considerable restraint” since then, including during the period of conflict with Iran.

He clarified that the Houthis had resumed targeting ships, claiming they had fired on two Saudi vessels last night.
