Until August 18... Postponement of the tender for the installation of 300,000 smart water meters

The Central Tenders Board announced the postponement of the deadline for submitting bids for the tender to supply, install, operate, and maintain smart water meters to August 18, instead of July 21.

The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy had requested the Board on May 24 to announce the tender to interested companies, and a preliminary meeting was held on June 2.

The tender aims to supply 300,000 smart meters to replace old mechanical meters across various residential sectors, as part of the Ministry’s efforts to fully digitize its services for both citizens and residents. These meters will enable the Ministry to automatically read consumption data, replacing traditional methods that rely on human intervention. They allow for remote reading and access to precise consumption data through a central system. Additionally, the Ministry will be able to detect water leaks, thereby reducing waste and identifying tampering or illegal consumption. Consumers will also be able to monitor their own consumption rates and practice conservation if usage exceeds normal levels.

The Ministry has formed a specialized committee to study the technical specifications and requirements for the meters to be supplied, ensuring they are suitable for hot climates and incorporate all modern technologies developed by global companies and manufacturers in this field.
