Maximizing economic value by transforming them into service and commercial assets
Comprehensive development and transfer of global expertise to Q8 in the local market
The Ministry of Oil has emphasized its strong interest in development projects that contribute to elevating the energy sector and related services, noting that the project to convert local fuel stations into the global Q8 brand represents one of the landmark initiatives reflecting the direction toward developing service infrastructure according to the best global standards, in line with the state’s vision for modernizing facilities and services provided to citizens and residents. This was stated in a press release issued by the Ministry of Oil, during a speech delivered by the Director of Public Relations and Media at the Ministry, Sheikh Tamadur Khalid Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, during a virtual panel discussion titled “Developing Local Fuel Stations into the Global Q8 Brand,” with the participation of specialists from relevant government entities, aiming to present the latest updates, objectives, and implementation phases of the project.
Supporting Development Initiatives
Sheikh Tamadur Al-Sabah stated that the Ministry is keen on supporting initiatives that enhance service quality and elevate the customer experience, emphasizing that the development of fuel stations is not limited to updating their external appearance but includes developing an integrated system of modern services, technologies, and digital solutions, making the stations more efficient and sustainable, and strengthening Kuwait’s position in adopting the latest practices in the energy and service sectors.
She clarified that the Ministry of Oil believes in the importance of continuous communication with government entities, national companies, and specialists to raise awareness about strategic projects, pointing out that this panel discussion is part of the Ministry’s efforts to explain the project’s objectives, phases, and its economic and service impact, reflecting transparency and enhancing partnerships with various stakeholders, ultimately achieving a comprehensive national project that contributes to providing modern services that align with societal aspirations and support the development process in the State of Kuwait.

Natural Disasters
Sheikh Tamadur Al-Sabah reaffirmed that the development of fuel stations represents one of the national projects whose positive impacts will be reflected in the quality of services provided to consumers and will enhance the competitiveness of the fuel distribution sector in Kuwait, keeping pace with global changes in the energy sector.
Comprehensive Development Project
For his part, Khaled Al-Badr, Head of Projects and Business Development at Kuwait Petroleum International, stated that the transition to the global Q8 brand goes beyond merely changing the visual identity of service stations; it represents a comprehensive development project aimed at elevating all aspects of the customer experience. This initiative seeks to bring the global expertise of the Q8 brand to the local market while preserving Kuwait’s national identity, standardizing operational, service, and visual standards, and gradually introducing digital and non-fuel services. These efforts are designed to transform fuel stations into integrated service destinations that meet the needs of their visitors.
Al-Badr noted that the project responds to the growing demand for fuel station services and aligns with the state’s direction toward developing the retail station network, maximizing the value of state assets, enhancing private sector participation, and improving service quality for consumers. He explained that the project will contribute to providing more efficient and flexible stations, improving safety levels, reducing congestion, and implementing a unified global identity that reflects the stature of the Q8 brand.
Maximizing Economic Value
He clarified that the project aims to maximize the economic value of fuel stations by transforming them into commercial and service assets that generate sustainable returns for the state. Additionally, it will create new investment opportunities in support services, open avenues for government and national companies to participate in developing in-station services, and broaden prospects for partnerships with the private sector in areas such as automotive services, retail stores, cafes, and modern technologies.
He emphasized that the goal is to transform stations into economic and service platforms rather than mere fueling locations. He outlined the project’s implementation phases, which begin with a pilot station and several priority sites to test designs, execution quality, and operational smoothness.
Al-Badr said this would be followed by gradual expansion based on evaluation results and lessons learned, ultimately leading to the full rollout of the new brand identity across the entire station network. This approach will take into account excluding stations scheduled for demolition or reconstruction, ensuring efficient spending and achieving optimal outcomes.
